VW CAMPERVAN - SLOTCAR
The essential purpose of the minivan concept is to fit the maximum passenger and/or cargo capacity into a very compact footprint. The VW "bus" is the original minivan, Chrysler's claim to the title for its Caravan/Voyager notwithstanding. Nothing VW or anybody else has produced since then has ever really replaced it. It was the ancestor of all compact vans, and while today's Ford Transit Connect, to name just one of its conceptual descendants, is a far more capable vehicle in just about every way, it still can't match the original VW's combination of unassuming simplicity and functionality. VW keeps talking about bringing it back, but they can't, really, in today's environmental, safety, and regulatory environment. We hope they don't try, because the inevitable failure will simply demonstrate the original's uniqueness.
BTW, this model just cries out to have its stock wheels swapped for a set of Fuchs or Minilite alloys and the single exhaust replaced by a pair of megaphones hinting at a Porsche engine swap
